:.:.:Adventure tips:.:.: With a little help from the Type Match-up chart, we have come up with some virtually unbeatable strategies to raise a good team. Enjoy! Making use of TMs to ready your pokemon with the right moves: TMs are great. We can teach pokemon attacks that usually they wouldn't know. My trick was always this:
Teaching pokemon moves powerful against their weakness is always good. Example: Teaching a Grass pokemon (weak against Ice-type) a Rock-type move (strong against Ice-type). So it would go like this. Send out a grass pokemon, enemy sends out ice pokemon, you use rock attack, ice pokemon faint. Simple as that.
There are many ways to use this strategy. This strategy is also used by the elite four a lot, so be careful. Try to resist using rare candies: Rare Candy: An item that raises the level of a pokemon by one.
Possibly the most favored item of everyone we know. I came to realize that it isn't as useful as it sounds. Anybody remember the "Rare Candy cheat" on Red/Blue versions, the one where you duplicate your Rare Candies to have 99 of them and use them to make your pokemon Level 100.
There used to be a lazy trick used that goes like this. You play Red/Blue version to do this "Rare Candy glitch" or something to get a decent amount of level 90-100 pokemon and trade them to your Gold/Silver/Crystal versions so you can swipe through the game with level 100s and not have to raise.
A true fact is that a pokemon Rare candied from level 5 to level 50 is 5 times weaker then one trained from the same level. Think how weak a level 100 rare candied would be...
I once battled my friend who had this cheated team: CharizardL:100, VenusaurL:100, BlastoiseL:100, PidgeotL:100, DragoniteL:100, ArticunoL:100 and won with this team NinetalesL:74, PikachuL:34, DewgongL:47, VileplumeL:58, VaporeonL:41, SandslashL:52
The stat raising items, Zinc, Calcium etc. are okay. They'll make your pokemon one point stronger at one stat and your pokemon will like you more, so try them instead. Raise a good team. I think you should try to get a team with pokemon types like this included: A Fire or Dragon pokemon A Water or Ice pokemon A Fighting, Rock, Steel or Ground pokemon A pokemon with at least one of its types being Grass or Bug An electric or normal pokemon A Normal, psychic, dark or ghost pokemon(choice)
That's a type of good raised team. There's a bit of choice involved in which types you favor over others and so on. I also think you shouldn't just raise pokemon that are known to most as strong. Training your favorite pokemon could be really nice, you should try it. There are a lot of non-powerful pokemon found in the wild that are strong if trained. What kinds of items to use and how to use them: Trying to battle a lot of good trainers is good because you can get lots of money at the same time train your pokemon well. Good trainers for this are Cooltrainers or Gentlemen. They usually have good pokemon to train on and they give a sack of money.
There are many shops around Hoenn, all carrying different kind of merchandise. These items are all useful in at least one way, be it healing your pokemon, making your pokemon stronger, giving them in a trade etc. You should try to use your items wisely, as well as using your money wisely to buy them.
When you get a good amount of money, try to kick start yourself off with a decent amount of about 35-40 pokeballs and maybe a couple of great balls or ultra balls, you will need these to catch some good pokemon to train or just to work on your Pok'edex.
The next time you find out you have saved up a fortune, try to spend most of it on building a "first aid kit" for your pokemon. One of these should include these:
Potions, buy about 18 of them. Which ones you buy, Potion/ Super Potion/ Hyper Potion/ Max Potion, depend on how much HP your pokemon have. During the start, with pokemon that have about 25-35HP, buy potions, around 40-70HP, buy Super potion, any higher, 100-220HP, buy Hyper Potion. If you have really high HP pokemon, around 200 or over, buy Max potion. Buying Full Restore sounds okay, but it really is a big money sucker-upperer. Don't buy any of those "Medicinal herb" items from the shop in Lavaridge Town. Your pokemon hate them.
Most people chose to buy Paralyz Heals and Antidotes and special healing items like that to heal specific status problems, but there are other money saving ways. The item "Full heal" is great. It can even heal confusion. You cannot get a specific heal item to heal that problem that isn't a berry. They will be really helpful.
Elixirs and Ethers aren't bought from the shops, but they are found in various secret places. They are useful if you have some strong moves with only 5 or 10 PP.
Repels are always helpful if your pokemon are suffering and you want to shield off wild pokemon from appearing and attacking your injured pokemon.
Energy items such as Carbos and Calcium are good for growing your pokemon's stats a bit stronger, but since they only grow a specific stat by 1 and they cost $9800, its best just picking these up off the ground.
At some places, TMs can be bought. One of the places is Lilycove Department store, they have a TM shop. These are moves like Blizzard and Hyper Beam. Other moves they have are Protect, Safeguard and Helpful moves like that. These moves are good. Teaching Hyper Beam to a strong pokemon that can take an attack, or Blizzard, Fire Blast or Thunder to other strong pokemon for good boosts. Also sold here are Light Screen, Reflect, Protect and Safeguard.
These moves are tactically effective. Teach Light Screen or Reflect to half the damage of certain types of attack. Protect is soooo cool! It will attack first and evade all effects, including damage of that attack. You could just protect attack one turn then attack with damage, protect, attack and so on. Safeguard will protect your party from status problems. This is good for me because I have bad confusion luck.
Another place is in Slateport Marketplace. I don't know when, but a lady will sell you Secret Power and Hidden Power. Secret Power is basically a tool for secret bases. Hidden Power, I don't know much about but I think its good. The great guide of how to wisely use "hold items": Most people find items on the road such as "Mystic water" or "Quick claw" and not know what these do. These are useful items. Here is a list of hold items which will make specific types of moves just that little bit stronger.
Twistedspoon - Powers up Psychic-moves Blackbelt - Powers up Fighting-moves Metal Coat - Powers up Steel-moves Blackglasses - Powers up Dark-moves Spell Tag - Powers up Ghost-moves Magnet - Powers up Electric-type moves Mystic Water - Powers up Water-type moves Nevermeltice - Powers up Ice-type moves Sharp Beak - Powers up Flying-type moves Poison Barb - Powers up Poison-type moves Silverpowder - Powers up Bug-type moves Silk Scarf - Powers up Normal-type moves Charcoal - Powers up Fire-type moves Soft Sand - Powers up Ground-type moves Miracle Seed - Powers up Grass-type moves Dragon Fang - Powers up Dragon-type moves Hard Stone - Powers up Rock-type moves
These items are all found in different places. Try attaching them to a pokemon with that type move, they can help a lot. These items below are good items for letting your pokemon hold to boost them in or out of battle.
Cleanse Tag - Helps ward off wild pokemon Everstone - Prevents evolution Exp Share - A pokemon holding this item gets half of the experience Focus Band - A pokemon holding this item may prevent fainting King's Rock - Increases the chance of flinching the opponent Lax Incense - Encourages Wobbufet to breed to make Wynaut Leftovers - Slight HP recovery each turn Pink Scarf - Raises Cuteness of the holder Quick Claw - Raises chances of attacking first (regardless of speed) Red Scarf - Raises Coolness of the holder Scope Lens - Critical hit rate of the holder rises Sea Incense - Encourages Marill or Azumarill to breed to make Azurill Shell Bell - Holder slightly recovers HP upon damaging the opponent Smoke Ball - Holder has 100% percent rate of escaping wild pokemon Soothe Bell - Increases happiness of the holder White Flute - Wild pokemon encounter rate increases Yellow Scarf - Raises Toughness of the holder Amulet Coin - Doubles money earnings if the holder participates in battle
These items are all useful in their own way. Some of those Scarfs are good for raising a characteristic of one of your pokemon for a contest. An Exp Share is helpful for a weak pokemon that you want to train. Maybe try attach one of those Incense items to a male Wobbufet or Marill to get a cute little Azurill or Wynaut. I would attach a Quick Claw to a slow pokemon to aid it in quicker striking. Even try attaching Amulet coin to a strong pokemon and battling with it to double money earning and make a friggin' fortune!!! These are some of our strategies on hold items, there are even more good ones to try with berries like the ones in the below section, we hope you create some good strategies. The guide to non-pokeblock ingredient berries: Here is a chart of the berries that aren't pokeblock ingredients. These berries are held by pokemon and they can help the holder in critical situations. Try these if your not gonna use them for Pokeblocks. Note: These are only the ones I have, I will add on to this if I find more.
Cheri Berry - Heals Paralysis Chesto Berry - Heals Sleep Pecha Berry - Heals Poison Rawst Berry - Heals Burn Leppa Berry - Heals PP of a move by 10 Oran Berry - Heals HP by 10 Persim Berry - Heals Confusion Sitrus Berry - Heals HP by 30
Letting pokemon hold items like these is tactically effective, especially when you are entering link cable battles, since your not permitted to use items in there. Sorry, that's about all we have. If we come up with anything, we'll tell you. Thanks for reading these tips, I hope they helped.
